We love the grab-and-go convenience of the Cascadia Field Watch. Follow these simple steps to ensure your watch keeps ticking for decades to come.
Cleaning your watch
Remember, it’s always good to occasionally give your watch a quick wipe down with a soft, dry cloth. We do this after playing outdoors and every so often after daily use. If we notice scuffs, we’ll use a bit of warm water and a gentle cloth scrub. Our watches are engineered with 316L stainless steel because of its durable properties. However, you will collect some dings if you’re as hard on your gear as us. This is ok! Often little battle scars remind us of adventures past. My Slate Blue dial has a lovely scratch from a rock while surfing in the Basque Country. Every time I notice it, I am reminded of cold water, a rugged Atlantic coastline, zaburiñas a la plancha, and a damn good time.
After a salty swim
Speaking of the Atlantic, after use in salt water, always remove the straps and give the watch a good rinse and gentle scrub in warm water. Then, dry it completely. Saltwater build-up can be nasty and a top culprit of watch decline, so this is a necessary step to keep top of mind when climbing out of the ocean.
Cleaning your nylon strap
Our Cascade Nylon Straps are built to withstand the elements. At the end of the day, it’s still a fabric and all fabrics will collect dust and grit over time. A gentle scrub with a bit of warm soapy water and a soft brush will do wonders for a spot clean. Every so often we’ll toss ours in a fine mesh bag and throw it in the washing machine for a thorough cleaning.
Storage for your watch
When not in use, simply store your watch in a cool, dry place. Our watches ship in a hard-wearing 10oz canvas wrap. We opt for non-disposable packaging to reduce waste – not to mention the canvas wrap makes for a great travel buddy! Fold your watch into one of the pockets and use the leather strap to secure your watch wrap. This offers a bit of protection while on the road and is a great storage option while your watch is not parked on your wrist.
Battery life
The Cascadia Field Watch keeps ticking with a battery that lasts approximately 30 months. If you see the ticker skip or stop completely, you are due for a new battery. Simply take your watch to a local watch repair shop for a battery change. We love a DIY job as much as you do, but please go to a trusted professional. This will ensure proper reassembly of your timepiece and maintain its factory 100m water resistance.
There you have it, simple as that. Follow these simple steps to care for your watch and keep it performing at its best, no matter where life takes you. So grab your pack and let the good times roll. Your watch will thank you.
See you on the trails!
